protecting the atheist, jedi or fascist?

CCW's Alison Marshall writes in the Scotsman

Scientology, a hot topic in the media recently thanks to its many celebrity followers, appears destined to make headlines for the foreseeable future. Whilst some countries have taken an official stance against Scientologists – recall the filming restrictions applied to Tom Cruise in Germany recently – UK employment regulations introduced in April prevent Scientologists being discriminated against in the workplace.

Given the strength of feeling, for and against, that seems to surround Scientology, it is almost inevitable that the new legislation will be tested in the near future. And if it is not Scientology, it will be something else. Scientologists are but one of many controversial groups now protected by anti-discrimination legislation.
