CCW will begin in autumn 2009 a regular series of quarterly surveys into the Fife commercial property market.

The aim of these reviews is simple - to provide an ongoing commentary on the state of the commercial property market in Fife. To date, the difficulty for those interested in this market has been the lack of qualitative data. Statistics collected by central government operate primarily at a UK-wide level, meaning there is an acute shortage of data at any regional level, including Fife, on the performance of regional property markets.

By collecting responses from businesses in Fife and key professionals, we hope to bridge this information gap. Our aim is to provide a barometer of the health of the Fife commercial property sector and, by doing so, to contribute to a better understanding of the needs of owners, tenants and other occupiers in Fife and surrounding areas.

Specifically, we hope to:

• form a clearer idea of relative supply and demand for commercial properties in Fife
• through regular surveys, to identify trends in the movement of prices and rents
• identify issues of concern to owners and occupiers of commercial premises in Fife
